What is a Pop Surrealist cityscape?

These artworks are created by combining original photographs into digital collages using Photoshop. Each composite is unique and is made using a library of photographs of a place. The images are seamlessly blended together to form a surreal and captivating cityscape. His work is heavily influenced by his Latino roots and his fascination with people and culture. With his use of color and nostalgia, Soria creates city collages that celebrate the unique architectural elements of urban environments.

Artist
Statement

The story of a city is told through its culture and community, shaped over decades by its built environments. My vibrant depictions of neighborhoods, infrastructure, and landmarks each tell a different story. They document time and place and the abundant spirit of a city. The vivid and amassed imagery showcases what makes each locality unique and recognizes what we have accomplished and what we have yet to achieve. I portray the wholeness of places as they are while piecing together nuances of human behavior, habitat, and change. They capture moments of nostalgia, adversity, and the celebration of our tenacity. Understanding how place and culture intersect through our built environments, allows us to understand ourselves, our issues, and how to persevere.
